Swedish gaming operator ATG has made a significant move in the Finnish market by appointing Mikael Bäcke as the CEO of its new joint venture with Suomen Hippos, the equestrian association in Finland. Bäcke, who currently serves as the CEO of the Bet25 division, brings a wealth of experience to this role, having been with ATG since 2014.

The joint venture, named Hippos ATG Oy, is set to offer a range of online gambling options, including sports betting and iGaming, to players in Finland. With Finland preparing to open its market to private operators in 2027, this partnership is a strategic one for both ATG and Suomen Hippos.

In his new role, Bäcke expressed his excitement for the opportunity, highlighting the potential for growth and innovation in the Finnish gaming market. ATG CEO Hans Lord Skarplöt also praised Bäcke’s knowledge and expertise, emphasizing the company’s commitment to online growth and expansion.

As Bäcke transitions to his new position, Henrik Friis Pedersen will take over as CEO of the Bet25 brand. Pedersen, who has been with ATG’s Danish subsidiary 25syv Group since 2019, is looking forward to building on the brand’s success and continuing its positive trajectory in the market.

With these leadership changes and the upcoming launch of Hippos ATG Oy, ATG is poised to make a significant impact in the Finnish gaming industry. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting partnership.
