In an update to the recent licence suspensions by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), Logame do Brasil Ltda and Sortenabet Gaming Brasil SA have had their licences reinstated after submitting required technical documentation. This development comes after the suspension of seven operator licences last Friday due to a failure to provide security assessment reports for their betting systems to the regulator.

Normative Ordinance No 722, which mandates operators to submit evaluation reports of their betting systems to the SPA, was cited as the reason for the initial suspensions. Recognised certifying entities are required to issue these reports, which operators must then submit within 90 days of receiving licensing approval.

EA Entretenimento e Esportes and Bet.Bet Soluções Tecnológicas SA promptly submitted their reports last week, leading to the reinstatement of their licences. Additionally, Pixbet, the primary sponsor for Flamengo football club, was granted a preliminary injunction by a federal court to reinstate its licence in time for the weekend match.

The current list now only includes Bell Ventures Digital Ltda and Betesporte Online Betting Ltda as the remaining operators awaiting licence reinstatement. The complete reinstatement of Logame do Brasil’s LiderBet, GeralBet, and B2xBet brands, along with Sortenabet’s SorteNaBet, Betou, and BetFusion, signals a step towards normal operations for these operators.

The fairness of the SPA’s licence suspensions has been questioned by Brazilian lawyer Fabio Ferreira Kujawski, who believes the regulator’s actions may show a lack of dialogue and understanding. Kujawski emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced approach, highlighting the need for the SPA to uphold authority while avoiding disproportionate sanctions.

As the situation continues to evolve, industry observers will be closely monitoring the SPA’s regulatory decisions and their impact on the Brazilian gaming market.
